Motorcyclist Dies, Two Seriously Injured In North Portland Crash

PORTLAND, Ore. — Authorities say speed is likely to blame for a crash that took the life of a man riding a motorcycle and seriously injured two others in a truck that was towing a trailer.

Investigators say the driver at fault ran a red light at North Vancouver Avenue and Columbia Boulevard around 1:40 on Thursday afternoon and hit the side of a pickup truck, causing the truck to overturn, injuring a father and his 8-year-old son.

The man who died is identified as 26-year-old James Martin.  Police say the motorcycle was stolen.

This is the 16th fatal crash of the year in Portland and the 4th involving a motorcyclist.
