Portland, Ore. – A man suspected of placing Molotov cocktails in two Southeast Portland yards has been arrested. Police say Jesse Bennett lives in the neighborhood where these bias crimes were committed near 104th and Francis. One of the victims received text messages saying they were targeted for their sexual orientation. Bennett, who’s 27, is charged with possession and manufacture of a destructive device.

“We recognize that these incidents can generate fear in our community,” said Chief Danielle Outlaw. “These cases are taken seriously and I am proud of Detective Meredith Hopper’s resolve and swift apprehension of the suspect.”
