Missing Aloha Woman’s Body Found In Landfill

ALOHA, Ore. (AP) — The body of a missing 27-year-old woman was found Tuesday in an Oregon landfill, according to Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials said Wednesday that an autopsy confirmed a body found at a landfill in Corvallis was that of Kaylee Birdzell. She had been reported missing on Friday.

Deputies received information on Sunday that Birdzell had been killed and her body put into the garbage of an apartment complex in Aloha, KOIN-TV reported.

Detectives tracked that garbage with waste management teams to the landfill in Corvallis.

On Wednesday, officials determined her cause of death as homicide.

Detectives on Sunday arrested Fabian Hernandez, 31, who had been in a relationship with Birdzell, on unrelated charges. He remained in jail and charges of murder and abuse of a corpse, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

It wasn’t immediately known if he has a lawyer to comment on his behalf.
