Man Killed After Intentionally Jumping In Front Of Semi On NE Marine Drive

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was hit by a semi tractor-trailer at Northeast 148th and Marine Drive just before 12:00pm on Friday.
Investigators have determined it was an act of suicide that killed a 34-year-old Portland man, who intentionally jumped in front of the vehicle.
Police had contact with the man before the crash conducting a welfare check after finding him walking beside the road. Officers tried to offer him help, but he was uncooperative. They watched him from a distance for about 15 minutes before leaving.
This is the 2nd traffic fatality in the city within 24 hours and the 17th deadly crash of the year.
