Man Arrested For Groping Teenage Girl On TriMet Bus
PORTLAND, Ore. — The man accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old girl while on a TriMet bus in Northeast Portland earlier this month has been arrested.
Multnomah County’s Transit Police Division put out an alert that they were looking for the suspect who boarded the #72 bus along Northeast 82nd Avenue on the evening of December 15th and exited at the stop at NE Cully Blvd. and Killingsworth Street. He identified himself to the victim as “Jesus”.
33-year-old Jose Chanmay was recognized by a TriMet employee on Thursday night while was riding a bus. Transit officers responded and arrested Chanmay near Northeast 82nd and Glisan for sex abuse and harassment. He was on parole at the time of the incident and had a warrant for his arrest for a prior sex abuse charge.
Police believe there may be additional victims and urge anyone who has had contact with the suspect to contact the Transit Police Division at (503) 962-7566.
