Man Accused of Shooting Deputy’s Windshield Arrested

A man wanted for shooting at a Sheriff’s deputy in Wasco County is now in custody.  Officers arrested Logan Cantwell in Skamania County Wednesday. He was spotted Tuesday in the Corbett-area. The Sheriff’s office says he was trying to steal a car there.

The 23-year-old has been on the run since Saturday. The Wasco County District Attorney says a deputy was chasing Cantwell  on Highway 97 near Shaniko, when he got out and started shooting into the windshield of the deputy’s car, on November 14th.   There were no injuries, but then Tuesday, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s office issued a shelter in place order for the Corbett and Bridal Veil areas, after reports that a person they think was Cantwell, was trying to steal a car.

Cantwell faces charges including  attempted murder, attempted assault, and  unlawful use of a weapon.
