Malheur County Sheriff Says No Investigation

Vale, Or. -The Malheur County Sheriff says he won’t open an investigation into possible criminal conduct by the Malheur Enterprise Newspaper. This latest development is being reported by the newspaper this morning.

Sheriff Brian Wolfe had been asked to look into whether reporters contacting the head of the County Economic Development Office outside of office hours was harassment.  The director, Greg Smith, who is also a state lawmaker, claims it is.

The newspaper reports the sheriff says “we believe in free speech and freedom of the press,” “As long as I’m here, that will not be violated.”
