LISTEN:  Catholic Charities of Oregon Helping Afghanistan Refugees

PORTLAND, Ore. –  As the crisis in Afghanistan continues, the Catholic Charities of Oregon is doing all they can to try and help the people and families who are fleeing the now Taliban controlled Afghanistan and making it to the U.S.

Director Matthew Westerbeck spoke at length with KXL’s Brett Reckamp to discuss their ongoing efforts and in particular how they are working right now to support as many people from Afghanistan as possible.  Matthew says they work closely with the federal government and agencies to assist legal refugees with difficult to obtain visa’s.  From there, he says they try to acquire resources to secure everything from housing to work, education and basic necessities.
