Leisure Travel To Oregon Expected To Increase In Late 2022

PORTLAND, Ore–Todd Davidson Executive Director for Travel Oregon the most recent report looking ahead to what vacation time might look like for the state.  There’s a lasting impact that occurred because of Covid-19.  The downturn in the industry is far greater than anything that was seen during 911 or during the great recession of 2008.  Travel Revenue was down 43% in 2021.  Room revenue has returned to pre-pandemic levels in the past 7 months.

Summer months are stronger than the state’s Winter months.  Consumer wealth is high.  Travelers have more money to spend.  A full travel recovery is expected in the second half of 2022.  Business travel is not expected to rebound until the later part of 2024.
