INDEPENDENT POLICE REVIEW: Portland’s SVU Needs Better Training

PORTLAND, Ore. – – The Portland Police Bureau needs to give officers better training to help domestic violence victims.

The City Auditor’s Independent Police Review is suggesting the Special Victims Unit collaborate with organizations that help victims, improve training for officers who respond to domestic violence calls, and for the Bureau to add directives, so officers understand how they’re supposed to respond to domestic violence victims.
