Hit And Run Suspect Indicted on 31 Counts

Portland, Ore – The suspect in last month’s deadly hit and run spree has been indicted on charges of murder, 7 counts of attempted murder assault and resisting arrest. 64-year-old Paul Rivas is facing 31 charges in all. He is accused of hitting and killing a 77-year-old Jean Gerish on January 25th.

Rivas will make a return appearance to a Multnomah County Court Room this morning.  Witnesses says the man driving a Honda Element was all over the streets and sidewalks from near Laurelhurst Park, Stark Street and on down to Belmont at about 19th on January 25th.  He jumped out of his car and tried to run away after he hit a parked vehicle.  Neighbors in the area jumped on him to hold him down until police came.  It’s not clear what caused the road rage rampage.
