Hillsboro Police Shoot And Kill Man After Threat

Hillsboro, Ore. — On December 17th, 2023, at 10:20 AM, Hillsboro police officers responded to a report of a restraining order violation in the 7900 Block of NE Miriam Way in Hillsboro. The reporting party informed officers that a male, subject to a court-ordered restraining order, was inside an apartment with a female.

Upon arrival, Hillsboro police officers confirmed the violation of the restraining order by the male. Subsequently, the situation escalated as the male, indicating he was armed, took the female hostage. In response to the perceived threat, two Hillsboro police officers discharged their service weapons, resulting in the death of the male.

As standard protocol in law enforcement shootings, the two involved Hillsboro police officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending further investigation.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Washington County Major Crimes Team (MCT). The MCT comprises deputy district attorneys and detectives from various law enforcement agencies, including Beaverton, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Sherwood, Tigard, Tualatin, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
