Beaverton, Or. – Groundbreaking  is being held today for the Patricia Reser Center for the Arts in Beaverton. Mayor Denny Doyle says  doors should open in 18 months. The center will include a 550 seat theater, art gallery and  nearby parking structure.

Reser’s Fine Foods board chair Patricia Reser donated $13 million dollars to the center which will be located near The Round between SW Hall and SW Cedar Hills Boulevard.

I think this will put not just Beaverton, but the West side on the map as a place for the arts and culture to come and flourish.  He says “it was hard to sleep last night.”

He says they are launching a million dollar fundraising effort for the project today. He says ”we’re looking for $10 donations, $50 donations. We want the community to say I had something to do with making this happen and I can go to it whenever I want.”
