Fundraiser For Mt. Angel Fire Victims Is A Success
MT. ANGEL, Ore. — A fundraiser was held at Festhalle in Mt. Angel last Saturday for the four businesses who lost everything in a 4-alarm fire two weeks ago.
About 600 people showed up for the event which included food, drink and a silent auction. The community raised $50,000. The money will be divided between the businesses.
“People who are not quitting. It would be easy to say I’m done, I don’t know what to do,” said Scott Stokely, one of several business owners in Mt. Angel who helped organize the event. “We’re pretty strong folk down here in Mt. Angel. We’re not going to let something like this take us down.”
FM News 101 KXL has been told the owner of the building who lives in California does not expect to rebuild.
The cause of the fire still has not been determined.
