Former Beaverton Mayor Facing Child Porn Charges

BEAVERTON, Ore. — Former Beaverton Mayor Denny Doyle has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography.  According to U.S. Attorney Scott Asphaug, Doyle is accused of knowingly and unlawfully possessing digital material containing child pornography between November of 2014 and December of 2015, including images depicting minors under the age of twelve.

If convicted, Doyle faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and a life term of supervised release.

This case was investigated by the FBI Portland’s Child Exploitation Task Force.  It is being prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Oregon.

A criminal information is only an accusation of a crime and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Justice Department to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
