Fire In Tillamook State Forest At 130 Acres

FOREST GROVE, Ore. — Cooler temperatures are helping crews get the upper hand on a wildfire in the Tillamook State Forest, but the steep terrain has made it difficult for firefighters to strengthen containment.

The Game Hog Creek Fire about 22 miles northwest of Forest Grove has burned over 130 acres.  A crew of about 80 is on the ground while helicopters drop water on the fire.

The fire started nearly two weeks ago and winds caused it to flare back up this week.  The cause remains under investigation.

Drift Creek and Idiot Creek forest roads, the Fear and Loaming mountain bike trail and Rogers Camp trailhead are closed.
