Sam Tannahill is the co-founder of Francis Tannahill Wine Company and A to Z Wineworks, the largest winery in Oregon. He is the chair of Oregon’s largest statewide business association, the Oregon Business and Industry (OBI) where he works to grow Oregon’s economy, help provide quality jobs and promote health communities through strong advocacy of Oregon’s businesses. In 2002 Sam and his partners founded A to Z Wineworks. He acquired REX HILL in 2007 and by 2012 quickly became the fastest growing winery in Oregon’s history with distribution in 50 states and 8 international markets.
In addition, the A to Z brand has made its mark on the wine industry by becoming one of the few LIVE certified wineries in the world, being a founding member of the Governors Climate Challenge and becoming in 2014 the world’s only B Corp certified winery.
Today, Sam serves on the Willamette Valley Winery Association Board, The Oregon Wine Research Institute Board, and is the Chair of the Oregon Business and Industry and co-chair/co-founder of the Oregon Food and Beverage Leadership Council.
In the past, Sam has served on the Oregon Business Association Board and Executive Committee (Chair in 2016, 2017), The Nature Conservancys Oregon Business Leaders Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Task Force, The Oregon Wine Board (Chair in 2009, 2010), the Oregon Winegrowers Association Board (President in 2009, 2010), the International Pinot Noir Celebration Board and was a member of the Governors GMO Task Force. He graduated with honors from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA and received a post graduate degree from University de Dijon.
