Eugene Man Sentenced For Illegally Exporting Scorpions

EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man is sentenced to two years of federal probation and 250 hours of community service after illegally importing and exporting live scorpions.

39-year-old Darren Drake admits to violating the Lacy Act by sending the scorpions to Germany without the correct license.

He was charged after customs found scorpions in a package labeled “chocolates.”
