Effort to Tighten Oregon School Children Immunization Law Dies

The effort by Democratic State Senator Elizabeth Steiner Hayward to do away with Oregon’s religious exemption for school children immunizations is over, at least for now.

She has decided to pull her bill after mounting opposition, but says she consider another effort to try and get the state’s vaccine exemption rate down.  Oregon currently has the highest in the country for kindergartners at 7%.
