Portland, Oregon – Residents had to be evacuated early today when a fire broke out at their apartment building in Southwest Portland. It happened just after 4:30am near SW 16th and Columbia. Jesse Altig with Portland Fire says they have just completed a search of the building and everyone is out safely. Preliminary info suggests no one was hurt. Crews are working to make sure the fire is completely out inside the walls and attic. An investigator is on scene to help determine a cause. SW Columbia was shutdown for some time near 16th. We’re hearing the first may have started in the basement. When crews arrived flames were bursting out of windows on the ground floor. Crews also found some fire up in the attic.
