Disney Filming New Movie In Vernonia

Vernonia, Oregon – One of the biggest movie makers in the world is filming a new picture right now in one of Oregon’s smallest towns. Disney film crews are in Vernonia this week shooting a new movie being produced by Oprah Winfrey. The Vernonia Voice newspaper reports the movie is called Water Man. Some scenes have been shot at Vernonia Lake, and in downtown. They say it’s a fantasy film about a boy who runs away from home to find the Water Man, a creature with the power to cheat death, in order to cure his ill mother.  Filming is expected to continue in Portland, and surrounding areas. It’s not the first time little Vernonia has been on the big screen. The 2008 film “Twilight,” shot some scenes there.
