Curbing “Problem Parents” In Youth Sports

Parents yelling at their kids’ umpires or referees is nothing new. Calling it a crime certainly is, though.
The state of Louisiana is taking a serious look at a measure that would criminalize heckling — or harassing certain officials during youth sporting events. The bill is apparently getting a lot of support.

I can tell you, personally — I remember this being a big problem when I was growing up in sports.
Certain parents could be a real nuisance during games. I’ll admit it — my dad even got out of hand a time or two.
