Craig’s List Scam

Hillsboro, Or. – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for a rent scam.  Deputies say 40 year old Bradley Philan would place the ads on Craigslist, offer his victims tours of the Aloha area home and then collect a deposit and first month’s rent. The  Sheriff’s Office says he would then spend the money on gambling. The house belongs to his mother.

Several relatives called the Sheriff’s Office to report the scam after paying back more than $7,000 to two different victims.

Deputies are concerned there may be more victims out there. They estimate Philan collected more than $13,000 since posting the ads in May.
