COVID-19 Cases Forecast to Drop this Month, Stay Elevated Through December

A forecast for Oregon shows COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations should start to drop soon.

The Oregon Health Authority’s latest forecast from O.H.S.U. estimates new cases will drop to 955 a day between October 6th and 19th. That’s still elevated, but far lower than just last week, when Oregon had almost 1,700 cases a day.  O.H.A.’s report also shows that hospitals throughout the state are seeing fewer COVID-19 hospitalizations, but still more than previous surges.

Experts are also warning that fewer Oregonians are heeding mandates about wearing masks indoors and outdoors, and are predicting that cases will stay elevated through December.
