Coronavirus Death Toll Rises In Washington State

SEATTLE (AP) – (Update) Officials say the number of deaths linked to coronavirus in Washington state has reached 18. Two more residents at a nursing home at the center of the outbreak of the new coronavirus in northwestern Washington have died. Health officials for Seattle and King County in a news release Sunday say a woman in her 80s and a man in his 90s died in the last several days. They were both residents of the Life Care Center of Kirkland. Officials say the number of reported deaths in King County is now 17, while the number statewide is now 18 statewide.

Officials say the number of deaths linked to coronavirus in Washington state has reached 16. The Department of Health released the updated number Saturday, saying there are now 102 COVID-19 cases across the state. The bulk of them remain in King County, where 15 of the deaths have been reported in what remains the nation’s worst outbreak. But Jefferson, Pierce, Grant and Clark Counties have all announced their first cases. Kittitas County also said Saturday it has a patient who presumptively tested positive.
