Salem Ore – It looks like Oregon voters will get a chance to vote on increasing the cigarette tax. But first it will need votes from lawmakers in both houses of the legislature.

The Joint Committee of Tax Expenditures gave it the nod Tuesday.

Some don’t like it because they believe cigarette sellers along Oregon borders will lose business.

Governor Kate Brown says the bill will help provide long term funding of the Oregon Health Plan.
