GASTON, Ore.–On Monday, July 22, 2019, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a suspicious house fire on SW Cherry Grove Drive and SW Fir Street in the Cherry Grove area of unincorporated Washington County, near Gaston.While the Gaston Rural Fire District and several other fire agencies were fighting the fire, a sheriff’s office detective began looking into the cause.Multiple witnesses reported seeing two white male teenagers, approximately 13-15 years of age, running from the property just before the fire started around 11:00 a.m.  Witnesses also reported seeing one of the suspects carrying a red container with a spout, similar to a gas can.  They were last seen running towards the SW Lee Falls Road area.

One of the boys was wearing a white t-shirt and tan pants or shorts.  They may also be associated with a gray or silver SUV.The home was a complete loss and nobody was inside at the time of the fire.If anyone has any information about these suspects, please contact the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 503-846-2500.
