CDC Recommends Masks In Two-Thirds Of Oregon Counties Due To High COVID Spread

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says 24 counties in Oregon have high transmission rates of COVID-19.  Therefore, they’re recommending that people again wear masks indoors and on public transportation.

The affected counties have 200 or more new cases or more than 20 new hospitalizations per 100,000 residents over the past seven days.

The highest transmission rate is in Crook County with more than 500 cases per 100,000 residents.  No county is Oregon is currently listed at low risk.

The CDC recommends people living in high transmission area to wear a mask and get tested if they have symptoms.  Those at high should also stay 6′ from others, avoid crowds and poorly ventilated spaces and wash their hands often.
