Car Theft Ring Busted In Clark County

Vancouver, Wash. — On September 10, 2023, shortly before 11:00 pm, Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of multiple individuals breaking into cars in the parking lot of the Pioneer Vista Apartments at 16501 NE 15th Ave. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the suspects attempting to steal a vehicle in the parking lot. As the suspects fled on foot, their getaway vehicle left the scene, colliding with a CCSO patrol vehicle and another parked vehicle.

One teenage suspect was apprehended at the scene and subsequently transported to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Hall, facing charges related to motor vehicle theft.

The getaway vehicle, a previously reported stolen Hyundai Elantra, struck another CCSO patrol vehicle in the lot and nearly ran over a Clark County Sheriff’s Sergeant. Tire deflation devices were successfully deployed against the fleeing vehicle as it traveled south on NE 15th Ave.

A brief vehicular pursuit followed, concluding when the stolen Hyundai crashed into a crosswalk pole at the intersection of NE 10th Ave and NE 139th St. The two occupants of the vehicle fled on foot but were both captured shortly afterward. The passenger, another teenager, was transported to JDH, facing charges related to motor vehicle theft.

The driver of the stolen Hyundai was identified as 18-year-old Xavier Perry, who was booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of Attempted Vehicular Assault, Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Attempt to Elude a Police Vehicle, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with this incident. The individuals involved in the motor vehicle collisions received precautionary medical evaluations at a local hospital before being transported to their respective detention facilities.
