BEND, Ore. (AP) – School district officials say repairs have been made to roofs at more than a dozen schools that were leaking after a record snowstorm.
The Bend Bulletin reports most of the leaks at the 14 area schools were caused by ice dams from the snowstorm that occurred in late February and early March.
Bend-La Pine Schools maintenance director Dan Dummitt says all the leaks were repaired by Thursday for less than $500.
He says the first leak complaint was made March 4.
Some of the leaks occurred on new roofs that were installed last years, but Dummitt says ice dams can cause leaks in any roof.
Some of the affected schools are set to have roofs replaced in the next few years.
