Seattle, Wa. – The NW Avalanche Center in Seattle has issued an avalanche warning for Mt. Hood. It will remain in effect until 6 pm tonight. Forecaster Kenny Kramer says high winds and lots of new snow on top of a smooth and solid crust layer underneath are a bad combination.

The warning does not affect ski resorts on Mt. Hood which have their own avalanche prevention efforts. The warning is for back country terrain.
