Albany Police Officer Injured During Incident

ALBANY, Ore. – An Albany police officer was injured Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were called to a home around 12:20 after a report that 19-year-old Alex Greig had assaulted his girlfriend.

When officers arrived, they say shots were fired inside the home and one officer was injured by flying glass.

The officer was treated at the hospital and is expected to be ok.

Greig was eventually taken into custody.

“We are very fortunate that no police officers were seriously injured and the suspect is in custody. We appreciate the professionalism of both Albany Police Officers on scene and the Benton County Sheriff’s Office who is taking the lead on the investigation”, Chief Harnden, APD.
