Portland, Ore. – Two county officials in Seattle are calling for the cancellation of an appearance by former U.S. Senator Al Franken. The reason? A new allegation that Franken groped a former aide to U.S. Senator Patty Murray. Franken resigned his Senate seat in 2017 after sexual misconduct allegations. He has since said he regrets stepping-down, and has returned to public life. The Seattle Times reports two members of the King County Council are asking a theater group to cancel this Friday’s scheduled event. The new allegation against Franken appeared in New York magazine over the weekend. Franken is speaking tonight in Southeast Portland at Revolution Hall. Franken’s Portland show is sold out.
