A Healthy Berry Season Is On The Way

CORNELIUS, Ore— Unger Farms is preparing for a busy season.  Greg Unger fourth Generation Farmer says, “At first we had some cold weather that came through, then showers, but the dry weather is hitting just right.”  He expects a pretty good amount of strawberries to be ready in 3 weeks.  Ever-bearing strawberries will come first, followed by the very popular Hoods.  Blueberries and raspberries take the next positions, then blackberries not too far behind.

The farm produces about 12 tons an acre. 100 acres is planted.  Unger Farms supplies farmers markets in Hillsboro, PSU and the one at Saturday Market.  The sell their berries to New Seasons . The fields on the farm open to U-Pick this year on May 29th.
