PORTLAND, Ore–A $ 26.5 million dollar verdict for a woman killed as a result of trucker road rage…Largest truck wrongful death verdict in Oregon and Pacific NW…
Jury reached decision last Friday.
A young married woman was killed as a result of road rage by 3 truckers and a ClassA (huge) motor home driver with a carrier’s license. The 4 big rig drivers got into a 90 mile road rage-fest on Hwy 20 a couple of years ago, and in the process, killed the young woman, who was hit head on at hefty speed by one of the semi trucks as she rounded a curve. Her last vision was likely the horror of coming around a curve to see two huge rigs, taking up both lanes on the two lane road, speeding toward her. The semi plowed into her, literally taking out the driver’s side of the car. (It took 4 hours to extract her from the unbelievably crunched wreckage. Her husband of 5 years (a veteran of the armed forces, and battling blood cancer) was asleep in the passenger seat. He survived – but serious injuries include head injury.
The two big haul drivers were playing cat and mouse — after being “brake checked” by the huge motor home driver, the semi moved to the oncoming lane to pass – but the motor home driver sped up, not allowing him in, as they entered the blind curve.
