Portland, Or. – Tonight’s Game Two of the Western Conference Finals will be the 2,500th broadcast for the producer of the Portland Trailblazer Radio Network. Rich Patterson has been on the job since 1992, the last time the Blazers made it to the conference finals. He says “it’s hard to believe.”

Patterson was a Blazer fan long before he went to work for the team. He used to listen to games on a radio in his bedroom and has been a forever fan of  Bill Schonely, longtime Blazer play by play announcer.  He says the two have been friends for years now and he calls Schonely his hero.

Patterson says there are only four times he was not there for an entire broadcast. Two were when former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were here for separate concerts. The other two were for meetings as he and his wife went through the process to adopt their son.

Asked how he plans to celebrate tonight’s milestone, Patterson said “I’m going to go to work and hope for a Blazer win.”
