This operation was focused on the eastern area of East Precinct and in the Fairview/Troutdale area.

The operation utilized a data-driven and evidence-based approach to conducting fewer stops while increasing the rate of stolen vehicle recoveries. In addition to the 13 recovered stolen vehicles and 19 arrests, officers also seized one illegally possessed a firearm, serviced 15 warrants, and issued eight citations.

Furthermore, nine vehicles were pursued by the police, six suspects were eluded on foot, and 27 drivers were contacted with no valid driving privileges. Additionally, 21 vehicles were contacted with no valid vehicle insurance.

East Precinct and MCSO are committed to recovering stolen cars, which have a nexus with gun violence, and their efforts have shown success. According to Chief Chuck Lovell, “These ongoing missions are successful due to the commitment shown by the East Precinct personnel and command to really focus enforcement efforts on stolen vehicles and the nexus they have with gun violence.”

Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell also expressed her gratitude for the partnership with Portland Police Bureau in this mission to reduce community violence and build safer communities, saying, “Working together to reduce community violence allows us to build safer communities. I want to thank the Portland Police Bureau for including us in this focused effort in east Multnomah County.”
