Washington County Sheriff’s Office Takes Over Cornelius Police Duties

Cornelius, Oregon – The town of Cornelius is contracting out for its policing services starting today. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office will now handle patrols and  Cornelius officers begin a two month transition training period as deputies.

Lt. Gene Moss will serve as Cornelius police chief and work with the city council and mayor. During the transition, people living in Cornelius may see officers in Cornelius uniforms and county cars and vice versa. Sgt. Bob Ray says they will still be getting the same quality service as they will on September 1st, when the full transition is made.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office already provides police service to Gaston and Banks.
