Arrest made in case of baby's death
Last Updated Jun 27, 2008 7:26 AM

Three months after the death of a baby boy, Gresham officers arrested the boyfriend of the child's mother Thursday.

Julian Wear was just 33 days old when he died of a devastating head injury at Legacy Emanuel Hospital on March 31.

Police said Darrel Chambers, 18, caused the injuries, which included massive brain trauma and a bilateral skull fracture, that led to Wear's death.

Officers originally responded to investigate after Wear was hospitalized March 29. They believe the abuse happened at a home on Northeast Flanders Street, where Chambers, Shauna Wear and her baby lived. Police said Chambers' mother and other family members also lived at the home.

Chambers has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on one count of murder by abuse and two counts of murder.
