Portland’s Afternoon News

Tim is a longtime radio and television newsman with a strong sense of curiosity. He truly enjoys learning about the world around us, especially the things that affect our everyday lives and sharing that information with you.

Tim Lantz

Tim believes that successful journalism requires that he builds trust with you and then delivers the unbiased information you want and need in a way that respects your time and intelligence.

During more than five decades of telling stories via traditional and social media, Tim has covered everything from floods, earthquakes, and major wildfires to the retirement of the space shuttle, the execution of a federal prison inmate and subsequent debate surrounding capital punishment, as well as the growing homelessness problem.

In fact, Tim’s reporting on homelessness as co-host of a radio home and lifestyle show earned him the highest honor in radio news, an Edward R. Murrow Award. He has received similar recognition from the Radio and Television News Directors Association of Northern California and the Associated Press.

However, he also enjoys inspirational and lighthearted stories, because we all need to feel good about life and sometimes share a laugh.

Come spend some time with Tim and the entire KXL news team every weekday afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 on FM News 101.
