Oregon Republican Talks White House Meeting
By Christina Kemp
WASHINGTON -- Oregon Congressman Greg Walden
was among Republicans who were invited to the White House on Thursday to negotiate ending the partial government shutdown and raising the debt limit.
Walden was happy to be at the table after President Obama said he would not negotiate until the government re-opened. He said it was a useful sit down and hopes the conversation leads to a serious negotiation.
"It's what Americans expect. Look, they are fed up with everyone back here. I know that, I'm fed up too. This is a tough place right now for somebody who came here to try and get something done," said Congressman Walden.
Leaders from both parties are in the heat of the battle now and Walden believes they are making progress.
