One Hiker Home; Another Still Missing
By Pat Boyle
Portland, Oregon - A Portland woman is back home after spending a week hunkered down in a tent near Mt Adams. 23 year old Alejandra Wilson was stranded by a big storm and was finally able to hike out to safety Saturday. She was five months into her hike of the Pacific Crest Trail and tells The Oregonian she plans to complete it some day. She tells the paper she was so cold she couldn't sleep at night. She just sat there and shivered. Her dad reported her missing a week ago Monday when she missed a trail check. He tells The Oregonian he felt a kind of stunned joy when he finally saw her again.
The news is not as encouraging for the family of Kristopher Zitzewitz from Portland. He was last seen September 28th near the Big Lava Beds in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. More than 100 people were looking for him again yesterday, but found nothing. The search has now been suspended.
