KXL's Dan Mitchinson Gets Ride of His Life
By KXL.com Staff
Somebody should have told 'Portland Afternoon News' host Dan Mitchinson
there was an easier way to get down a building.
Mitchinson climbed over the edge of the U.S. Bancorp Tower Thursday afternoon to raise money for scouting programs.
"I don't know why I let KGW News Anchor Stephanie Stricklen talk me into this" he said prior to the decent.
The Boy Scouts collected donations of $2,500 dollars or more from people who wanted to rappel down the face of the building.
"If I'm going to do this, you're going to do this with me" said Stricklen, who went over the edge ahead of Mitchinson.
Last year, the scouts raised over a $100,000 from the fundraiser. This year, a spokesperson says it will likely be a little less. Money will be used to support their programs.
The hardest part? "The heat, and stress on your forearms as you release the rope and rappel down the building" said Mitchinson.
"I've jumped out of an airplane, from the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere, and even bungee jumped, but this without a doubt was the most adrenaline fueled stunt I've ever tried" said Mitchinson, while he was laughing (nervously). " Yes, the view was great, but no, I don't think I'll do it again next year."
