The Old Fashioned finds its roots in Louisville, KY, as a staple of the Pendennis Club in Louisville. Some historians cite it as being the first libation to be named a "cocktail", though that claim has been disputed. As part of Bourbon Heritage Month, we present, The Old Fashioned!
Ingredients: 1 sugar cube, 3oz. premium bourbon, 2 orange slices, 1 strip lemon peel, 2-3 dashes of bitters, maraschino cherry. Optional-3 ice cubes.
Preparation: In an Old Fashioned Glass, add the sugar cube, saturate the sugar with 2-3 dashes of Angostrura bitters, orange slices, lemon peel, cherry. Muddle this over the sugar cube. Add ice cubes and bourbon, stir well. Optional: add some club soda.
