Woman Hit By Max Train and Killed

PORTLAND, Ore. -- A woman died after being hit by a Max train at the Northeast 7th Avenue station just after 7:30 on Thursday morning.
Witnesses say she stepped into the crosswalk at Holladay Street not realizing that a westbound train was headed her way. 62-year-old Yvonne Osredkar of Ridgefield was trapped underneath. Police say it's likely that she couldn't hear the signals because of loud construction nearby.
The investigation halted Max traffic on the blue, green and red lines with shuttle buses filling the gaps and causing delays for riders that lasted hours.
TriMet released this statement: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic collision that occurred this morning. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the woman's family and friends. Our thoughts and support are also with our train operator on what is truly a devastating day for all involved."
