Steve Byrne has made appearances on shows like Chappelle’s Show, Tough Crowd With Colin Quinn and The Late Late Show. He’s also been in movies like Couples Retreat, and Four Christmases. Currently he stars in his own show Sullivan and Son on TBS. He joined Chad on Flight 750 Tuesday to talk about his comedy career and his work with Sullivan and Son.Byrne first talked about what it’s like to have to travel through airports with a man named Ahmed Ahmed.
“We’ll just say that random searches are not as random as you think. It’s like we show up and we’re like ‘Dude just shave before you show up at least’.”
Bryne also talked about his role as a one-time opening act for some of the biggest stars in Pop and Rock music.
“I opened up for Mariah Carey. It’s like 16,000 people. I remember the lights go down, the place goes crazy and the announcer over the PA system goes ‘Ladies and gentlemen welcome to Mariah Carey’s Charm Bracelet Tour,’ and 16,000 people go crazy and they go ‘And now, Steve Byrne…Silence…He didn’t say I’m a comedian, he didn’t say anything just ‘Steve Byrne.’ I come out and I have to tell them I’m a comedian and maybe four minutes in I remember way off in the distance I hear this one very effeminate guy go ‘Where’s Mariah?’ And I felt like somebody ripped my spine out of my back.”
And last but certainly not least, Chad and Byrne had this hilarious exchange.
[Chad] “I’ve got to ask, as a comedian what comes across your mind when I saw Anthony Weiner?
[Byrne’s response]…”Pull Out!”
