Chair Cogen Stays on the Job
The disgraced chair of Multnomah County, Jeff Cogen, was the lone "no" vote on a resolution calling for his resignation. The four commissioners called for him to step down in light of two affairs, one with a county employee.
The resolution was introduced by Commissioner Judy Shiprack. The vote needed to be unanimous to pass. The commissioners voted for Cogen's resignation, but he had the final vote. So the resolution failed, four to one.
Sonia Manhas resigned from the health department on Wednesday. She's said she believes Cogen should too.
He admits to "big mistakes", but states firmly that he didn't break any county rules.
