Caleb Porter, Timbers Shine Past the Galaxy
Portland Timbers head coach Caleb Porter joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth Tuesday afternoon to talk about his team's recent win
over the Los Angeles Galaxy.
"LA Galaxy has been a team that has consistently gotten it done, and for us to come up on the winning end is a big statement."
Defender Andrew Jean-Baptiste scored a last minute header off of a Diego Valeri corner kick to give the Timbers a 2-1 over Los Angeles Saturday night. Though Coach Porter expected an evenly matched game, he said that he also expected a win.
"I always believe that we're going to win every game, and it's not a naive belief. It has to start with the belief that it can happen, and it can't just be a hope."
After the game, much speculation was made after a seemingly heated exchange between the coaches.
"More than anything, he was upset with the officials. In some ways, I misconstrued that and you know, he circled back and made sure I kenw he wasn't yelling at me but at the officials. He's a role model to me, I've studied him for a lot of years. He is absolutely the greatest American coach in the history of the sport."
"When you ask that question of course I'm going to say 'yeah,' because if you don't think that, you never will have a chance. We certainly are good enough. Obviously, we need to get in the playoffs first."
