A man has been pulled from the Columbia Slough more than 4 hours after his SUV went into the river.
Portland Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the scene around 2:15am, on the report of a vehicle that had possibly entered the Columbia river and submerged. When crews arrived they gathered information from witnesses and began attempts at locating where the vehicle had entered the water.
PF&R fire boats and land crews were used to locate the downed vehicle and it was discovered that a fence had been run over and a vehicle had rolled down an embankment and into the Columbia river.
Firefighters were able to pull one occupant out of the river who surfaced as they were searching the waterway. The Multnomah County Sheriff's dive team has been requested to assist.
