Wildfire Near Owhyee Dam Triples In Size

A wildfire burning near the Owhyee Dam in Malheur County in SE Oregon has tripled in size. The blaze has now scorched 30,000 acres and is zero contained. Hot shot crews are being brought in today to help fight it. They will join more than 240 firefighters already on teh scene. Carol Connolly with the NW Interagency Coordination Center says they hope to get a line around the fire by Saturday. A Girl Scout camp in the area has been evacuated as a precaution.
Other fires burning in Malheur County are the Curry Canyon fire which has been contained at 2800 acres. The Crooked Creek complex has burned 12,000 acres and is 25 percent contained. All of the fires were sparked by lightening.
